Are these guys having fun? I can assure you that the one holding the fly rod is.
Left to right: Some no-casting old fart, Bob Clouser, Joe Humphreys

Is that a fly in the back of that guys head behind you Mike?
ReplyDeleteHmmm... Maybe that's why they're laughing, Chris.
ReplyDeleteThis photo has the same blurry, rushd quality that is found in photos of sasquatch and Nessie. Questionable.
ReplyDeleteOh, this shot is certainly questionable, but not for authenticity. For character.
ReplyDeleteAll of my photos of the day turned out like a Jackson Pollock painting due to my excitement. Great Stuff Mike.
ReplyDeleteGood lot. :)
ReplyDeleteI believed you before, but now it's unquestionable. Very enviable experience.
ReplyDeleteFly fishing Icons. And the guy with the fly rod.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to know how the Clouser stacks up against a Predator. Even though it was just a trade show casting pond, you're the only person I know to try both.
ReplyDeleteJoel, mine are often more Picasso.
ReplyDeleteErin, a good lot indeed. I'd love having this crew on the water somewhere.
Jay, you're such a trusting soul. :-)
BT, icons and idiot, indeed.
Well Clif, I have and I haven't. The Predator I throw (and love) is the previous generation and I don't know how it stacks up against Redington's current offering. I think it was a pretty extensive makeover. That said, it's still hard to compare. My old Predator is a foot shorter than the Clouser, lighter, and probably a bit faster. The Clouser, though, has more legs - gets more distance quite easily - than my Redington. Since I fish tight quarters, the 7'10" rod is very useful and only the Redington has that length. But if you are looking at equivalent lengths, I don't think you could go wrong with either. If I had to order one today, I think I'd take the TFO, having thrown it and liked it. And who knows, I just might...
Great photo! Thanks for the smile
ReplyDeleteSep,
ReplyDeleteGreat photo...I've met Bob Clouser a few times. He's a heckuva nice guy and a great fly fisher. Joe I know a little better, or I should say my real dad and step-dad know Joe very well. My real dad was an avid fly fisherman and actually took classes from George Harvey, PSU's first fly fishing instructor. Joe was in one of those classes with my dad.
Joe also knows my step-dad. They hunted together. I met Joe several years ago and was thrilled he knew my "dads." He is one helluva nymph fisherman, the best I've ever seen.
You look good standing amongst those fly fishing legends.
