Raleigh-Durham International Airport
Gate A27
As my buddy Sean so aptly put it in a quick note this morning, and so it begins…
Sitting here at the gate feels odd. During my thirty-two years in the I/T industry I’ve done my share of flying, so it’s not that. And as a travel team soccer coach, an occasional vacationer, and the grandfather of two cherubs in Chicago, I’ve flown my fair share of friendly skies on the way to fun places and wonderful adventures. It’s not that either.
This time, I have a tube full of fly rods and a camera bag sitting next to me, an itinerary with Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho penciled in, and an audience, I think, interested in following along. I’m alone, and I’m not. It’s a bit intimidating, and thrilling, and, well, odd. It’s a new milestone on the strange road I’ve been traveling these past couple of years, rediscovering the long rod and beginning the exhibitionist practice of writing about it.
So you’ll have to bear with me, a bit, as I have no clue how this endeavor will play out. The adventure lies before me and I’m sure there will be tons to show and tell. We’ll just have to see how it goes. I hope I don’t bore you.

Oops. Gate change to A26. Gotta go.
… and so it begins…
Safe Travels...looking forward to living vicariously through your reports on such a great adventure.......Jeff
