It Seems Like Forever

It seems like forever since my river has been fishable. Sporadic spring rains have kept it high and dirty for so long that I've wondered if I'd ever get back on it. But as summer approaches - and here in the south it will arrive in a whipstitch - things are finally settling in.

I like fishing when it's been under 4ft for a couple of days. Such a tease!

I walked down the path and fished the dingy, but blessedly wadable, waters - with expectations - for the first time this year. Wet waded, to boot. I was not disappointed. It's good to be home again.

It seems like forever.

Hmmmm I need some Haw time. I haven't been there since the clean up which I don't really count.

Great job, I was trying to figure your fly out you were using. What is it?

Thanks guys, it was a nice return.

Howard, I was wet wading, not skinny dipping, but your point is well made.

Dustin, the fly is just a big, #1 leggy foam hopper slider. I like fishing big hooks so that the bream are less likely to get in the way. I'm at the point now that I don't even twitch when they pop at it. I just wait for the flush.

Looks like fun. Congrats on getting back into the spring. Those long cold winter months have to be brutal...

Not a long cold winter, Ben. Just a long wet spring - something you desert guys just wouldn't understand.

Beauty Bass. Glad to hear the waters are cooperating. Spring just doesn't seem to want to go away. Tight Lines.
