Where's the Ark?

It's raining, It's pouring
The river is roaring.

For those of you living in North Carolina, you know just how I feel. Damp. Tropical storm Ida has dumped a load of water on us the past two days (I've measured 4.1 inches of rainfall in the past 36 hours) and it looks to continue through Friday.

The Haw has jumped to flood stage about as quickly as I've seen it since moving here and such levels usually mean a slightly rearranged river when I return. Old productive holes gone, new ones created. Cover washed away and redeposited downstream, new timber in new places. It's always interesting.

This rain is also, no doubt, blowing out the mountain streams in western NC, my planned destination for next week. So, I guess I'll just settle in here and wait for Thanksgiving to once again attempt to decipher the wily ways of the trout.

That is, if they've not all been washed to the Atlantic by then.
