Giving Thanks

I am thankful for crisp autumn afternoons spent throwing crankbaits to scrappy chain pickerel.

I am thankful that I eat, and drink, this much but once a year and that I have the good fortune to be able to do so.

I am thankful for the companionship of dogs and the company of folks who love them enough to make them an integral part of their lives.

I am thankful for pumpkin martinis (and hope that I still feel that way in the morning).

I am thankful for a warm fireplace, shelter from the rain, and enough floor space and air mattresses to accomodate such a delightful gathering.


And this weekend, I am especially thankful for Joanne and Dewey who have once again provided a lakeside Thanksgiving table upon which we may share the abundance of our lives with friends, family, and friends who have become family over the years.

I hope you, too, have such friends and such blessings in your life and can be thankful for them as well.
